So this book got bumped down 1/2 a star only because I felt like I was in a meeting every time a new chapter started.

Please though...this didn't take that much away from the story and damn I couldn't put this one down for more than just plugging in the charger.

Tim the pixie is a hoot and add in Baby Bee....OMG - this series just blows me away!

As much as I enjoy the story I am really tired of the farting references. It makes the book more childish then it needs to be.

Jayne is honestly the most childish protagonist ever. She acts according to her first impression of something and always charges into situations she could have avoided. Casey isn't a horrible writer, but jayne's voice gets annoying after a while. Casey focuses so much on making the dialogue entertaining that she fails to develop the characters', causing them to remain as flat characters. The only decent round character is Ben, and we don't even see him in many scenes other than when Jayne gets pissed off at him. I really hope Casey will improve in the next book because she did such a spectacular job on building this world that I don't want to just see it go to waste.

So I loved the first four books of this series and then book five came out and I started to get a little confused but still enjoyed it especially Tim the pixie man. I loved him in the last book. The problems started with Ben, I just didn't know what to think about him. And that has continue in this book. It's irritating cause I really wanted to start liking him after book four and the beginning of book five. Now I just don't know what to think. Also I'm a bit annoyed with Jayne. I feel like she should be making less mistakes and be learning her magic better but she just still continues to flounder about. Everyone around Jayne is growing and becoming better at there magic and at being Fae and Jayne's becoming more ridiculous.

Jayne still pisses me off with her continuous immaturity, but I guess she is just 17. Still... The Ben not being a good guy plot twist feels so wrong :( Also I want a Beau romance right now!

Chase!! God I am so glad to be reading about him again, although his time was brief, I will treasure it always lol. geez this is gonna make me sound fickle because I really thought I'd be rooting for her and Chase until the end and I thought they were supposed to be together but I think I understand now. I understand the love he has for her and it's something neither of them can change. No, I think I finally see who she's meant to be with and if I look back I think she was meant to be with that person all along. I was just in denial because of the love I have for Chase. Spike's love for Jayne is so genuine, easy, and unforced that I think I almost overlooked it until this book. I never realized the depth of the bond there until his secrets were laid bare. I just wish it was him saying it and not a demon. but that's ok I'm just glad it's out there and hopefully everything will work out for them in the end. as always Tim and Jayne could not be more perfect and I seriously laughed out loud through most of their conversations. I'm really looking forward to the next one but I'm also really sad that it's the last :'(

I am really enjoying this series and find myself anxiously awaiting each new book and devouring it shortly after it's release. Clash of the Otherwords: Book 2, Between the Realms was no different in that respect. I read it as soon as I had finished Book 1.
I love the characters in Elle's books. They are so real and believable even when set in a fantasy realm. There's not much else I can say about this book that I haven't already said in my reviews of the others in the series, and if you're this far into them you will know what I mean when I say that I am totally hooked on this series and it's characters. If I were pressed for a negative about this particular book I would reluctantly admit that there were quite a few grammatical errors that wouldn't be caught by a spell checking program (where do I sign up to be a proof reader? I would love to be a part of Elle Casey's dream team. Especially if it meant getting to read her books sooner than I would otherwise). But please don't let that deter you from reading it, because it takes nothing from the story and it is SUCH a good story!

Elle Casey is one of my favorite authors. Jayne is so much fun. I love each and every book that she is in. I am going to be so sad when these books are over.

Jayne and Tim go on many more adventures. I'm dying to know what Maggie is doing with the little fae. I am SO hopeful about Spike. Jayne had me cracking up with her smart a** mouth. I would love to climb into Elle Casey's mind and see where she comes up with this stuff. About Ben...well...my interest is piqued and that's all I'm gonna say.

Not my favorite of the series but still a good read. I have started reading book3 and the last in the series and I can already tell that I'm going to be surprised with the end, in a good way, the way things are unfolding. Love EC and she rocks in my book. Love her writing and I have fallen in love with the characters she's created especially Tim. He's a hoot. Everybody needs a Tim in their life.

For a book/series that claims it is aimed at adults/ older teens there is way too much childisness in it.

Also why is Jayne getting more dumb and annoying in each book, the author doesnt even attempt to give reasons behind her actions anymore.

I had to subtract a few stars because i really cant stand books where the plot device is an idiot main character.

This is a hilarious book with many plot twists I couldn’t predict. The issues with the Fae and Jayne are progressing, as is the book, so everything is moving at a great pace. One problem I have is that there are many childish moments that seem to just stall progression of the book, but the childish parts are to be expected and welcome at this point in the series. Overall, the book is excellent and has a strong plot and realistic characters.

I enjoy the story and Jayne's frankness a lot, but I'm just feeling a bit miffed why, after making so many epic mistakes, Jayne does not behave a bit more sensibly before charging right into the situation. Just a bit.

Book Reviews Relating to this: After the Fall - Book 1; War of the Fae Series

Synopsis

The opening scene is a fight between the demons and the Fae. Jayne discovers that Spike has been possessed and is spilling his feelings to her. Spike is in love with her, has been ever since they met. Ben catches the two kissing while the battle is raging, and pulls Jayne away. But her mind is still on Spike and the words that he said. Holding Ben's hand, she envisions all of the demons being uprooted and sent back to the Underworld. With the power of all of the elements, her image appears to work. Except for one thing. Now she, and her pixie friend, Tim are in the Underworld with the demons. She needs to get back to Earth and help her friends, but she has no idea how. With the help of Demon Spike, Tim and Tony, she escapes from dragons, one scary torturing demon, and a troll to make it back to the plane that she belongs on. When they return to the compound, Tim is finally nominated as a member of the council and Jayne gets a new bodyguard. The Dark Fae werewolf, Aidan follows her around constantly. The council votes that the only plausible solution is to open the portals, and bring back the Guardians of the Portals. Too bad they are dragons, in the heart of both of the Otherworlds. Jayne and her friends must travel to the Underworld to find the first dragon, and the Overworld to find the second. But with the tear in the Gray getting bigger everyday, can the council alone protect the Fae and humans from the looming threat? With the possibility of the powerful Elemental, Ben on the side of the demons, do they stand a chance at winning this war?

My Thoughts

This book had a lot more action than the first in the series, but it felt as if everything was crammed tightly together. It all happened so quickly, scenes changing in the blink of an eye. I'm not necessarily saying that it was a bad thing, but it definitely felt more uncomfortable and pieced together than any other Elle Casey book I've read. My thoughts on the first book- Ben being a traitor and Spike falling in love with Jayne, are almost confirmed in this sequel. Jayne and her friends must go to Heaven and Hell to release the Guardians of the Portals to keep the demons trapped in the Underworld. I'm definitely curious to see how this series ends, but the books are getting more and more redundant as it continues. I have my fingers crossed that Casey ends this series with a "WTF just happened" plot twist, because as of right now, I have a feeling I know exactly how it will end. And I hate predictable endings... :)

Excerpt from Book

"Holy bat balls... I taunted a friggin dragon. What is my problem? Why do I not see the jaws of death when they are staring me in the face? I decided then and there that when this thing was over, I was going to get myself some serious therapy. Just because he hadn't been able to fry me was no reason to be getting all cocky. This beast could kill me in at least five different ways that I quickly calculated. I'd never been so good at math."- Jayne, Elle Casey

I am not happy with this book. Maybe I had rose colored glasses on before in the previous to not see how Jayne really is as a person, but now I do. Jayne is really the most ignorant, childish, spoiled, annoying, and catty person I have ever had the misfortune of reading about. She takes Mean Girls to a whole new level with the way she treats people when things doesn't go her way
“Maybe you should listen to her," said Aidan.  "She's the most powerful witch in our realm."
"Yeah, right.  And look where it got us - a demon in the kitchen and Garrett running all over the compound.  She's a screw-up, just like me."  I looked back at her.  "I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
She curled her lip at me.  "You are about to show the world just how far from this tree you have fallen, girl."  She finished with a snarl that I think was supposed to scare me, but all it did was make me laugh.
"Whatevs.”
I hate that she uses her position as collateral to get what she wants even when people call her out on her pettiness like Red.
“The solution is simple, Anton," said Red.  "We tell her no.  She cannot have everything she wants.  She's a spoiled child.  Are we to bend to all of her wishes simply because she is our Mother?  No.  I say not.  She has a lot to learn, not the least of which is humility and self-sacrifice.”
And let's not forget on her she treated Maggie...
“You can't leave me like this!" she yelled at my back.
"Watch me," I said, not even looking at her.
I was halfway out the door when she said, "Wait," in a quiet voice.
I turned around, the last one to leave.  "What'd you say?"  I put my finger up to my ear.  "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that.”

Jayne is nothing more than a bully, and it pisses me off that none of her 'friends' tells that the stuff she does isn't cool or right. She is very disrespectful and tries to justify her actions as something her peers should be thankful for because she has made sacrifices for them. The loss of her mother was not a sacrifice, she was merely caught in the war between fae and demons. Her situation with Ben is another thing that wasn't all too personal in my opinion. But still, she can't hold that against people and alterations like shit just because she can. It's disgusting really. It's like she has a say in what everybody does, especially Tony who really needs to man up and stop letting her run the show for him.
Anyway, I could rant all day about how much this book pissed me off but I'm not. I'll most likely end up reading one more book before I'm with this series. It's not working out for me. The author is a great writer and I love her other books, but she focused way too much on the dialogue that needs to be edited because of grammar issues, and not enough on the character development. I don't believe anyone has really grown in this series, especially Jayne, since there's too much talk and not enough action. I'm really disappointed in how this series is going.

Oh my....what to say about the emotional roller coaster that Elle subjects me to...First all I have to say that I really really hate love triangles, but since so many books use that in their plot, I can't avoid them all. I count myself as a pretty good judge of character therefore when I choose the one I want them to end up with I usually stay pretty loyal and am mad if it does not end up that way. Now with all that being said.....Elle you are killing me with all the twists and turns and make me feel disloyal because I have changed my preferences several times through out this series!! I am loyal like Jayne so to convince me to jump tracks is really pretty rare and to have me jump more than once to different people is incredible,

This book is laugh out loud funny...but I come to expect that from Elle (her humor and voice speaks to me like a best friend)..but right now I am clueless and out of the loop as Jayne! Elle leads us (Jayne and any reader) around by our emotions and our bag of good intentions. You know that Jayne is about to something that looks like a good idea and altruistic on the surface and honestly if you were the one standing there and having to make a decision on the spot with the information you have at the moment, you would probably make the same one. But the information or the hints you get RIGHT after makes you think that it will come back to bite you and the whole of fae and mankind is there every time.

I don't want to give away any spoilers therefore I am not going to talk about what happens in this book. I have recommended all of Elle's books and if you read one and like her voice then I would tell you read them all! Her main characters are kick ass, sassy young women that are always trying to take care of their friends, family while trying to make the right choices (not always successful) then deal with the consequences of their actions (always actions because these gals are not the sit on the sidelines to wait and see people).

I love the characters (pretty much every one of them)in this series and it will be a sad day when we don't get to get an update in their lives.

Thanks again Elle for the wild ride and the rush of adrenaline you provide on a regular basis.

Once again Elle Casey raises the bar. Just when you think it can't get any better you read the next book and are blown away. I haven't been a Young Adult in quite a while except at heart which just goes to show that anyone of any age can enjoy these books. Just when I think I have everything and everyone figured out Mrs. Casey takes the story on an unexpected turn. I really did not see certain events coming. There's a character (or two) that I really want to like but it's getting very hard after all the bad things they've done. I hope they can change but it's hard to tell at the moment. I think Jayne has finally settled on who is going to be her romantic interest and I was happy to see who it was (pretty much the guy I was hoping she'd fall for since the first book) although you never know with these books so I'll just keep my fingers crossed. Tim and his son are insane. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. What's with the "Spider Nakies" and "polly balls"? I don't even know how she comes up with this stuff but I'm certainly glad she does.

Elle Casey has a wonderful imagination, her characters are real, flawed, funny and everything you'd expect out of a motley group of friends. Her sense of humor leaves me laughing for most of the book (my relatives think I'm insane by now I'm sure) and her pacing is perfect. She's truly a talented author and I'm so glad that Amazon, Goodreads, etc have made it possible for independent authors everywhere to share their stories with us. This book deserves to be on the shelf at every single bookstore, Walmart, Target, anywhere books are sold, it's simply that good. I have to go start the 3rd book now. It's been hard writing this review and waiting even this long to see what happens next. These books just pull you straight into them and once you're there you'll never want to leave.

Jayne can't do something, and guess what? She does it anyway. For the love of cheese, you would think that she would have some character development. Even in her own reasoning, she says she tries to be more mature, but really doesn't act on it at all. This is book 6 and it's losing me. I can't stop because, I love the fae and I am curious what the hell is going on, but quickly losing my happy feelings for Jayne. I lost them for the pixies around book 3. Which, unfortunately, we get a heavy dose of Willy in this book. I wanted to claw my eyes out. Jayne is showing that she has new abilities, however she doesn't know how to use them, which causes a huge rift between her and Ben, not that there was a lot going on between them because she never tried. While I knew that Ben was her nemesis and it was not going to work out for them, I didn't believe that Jayne knew that. Anyway, we learn that she was correct about Ben, duh - no one believes her, of course. She acts extremely childish and immature, I think she might be regressing; it isn't cute. The only mature thing she does is let Chase go and accepts Spike. I was a little surprised at that, as I don't really see Spike as the way the dude was described. Perhaps I was as blind as Jayne. Samantha threw me for a loop and I am really curious about her and what she does and how she is related; you don't find out. Editing is rather poor with a flagrant misuse of the semicolon. You guessed it, ends in a cliff-hanger.

This book was entirely forgettable. I read it just a couple days ago, and I can't remember a thing without looking back. It's ok if you are into the series and just want to know how it ends, but this really should not have been a stand-alone novel. It's just a continuation of the book before. There are still too many meetings in the book, just like most of the others. Really, find another way to advance the plot!

Plot summary: It starts with the veil between worlds tearing so that angels and demons enter Earth's realm, a fight, then Spike being possessed by a demon, then Jayne inadvertently ending up in hell and almost becoming dragon kibble. Then they discover that Leck's not dead - he's in the gray. There are some twists and turns with Maggie the witch and Torrie the demon as well as the Fate. Jayne discovers she can summon angels, demons, and pretty much anyone else into her dreams, then starts to figure out Ben's plans by cozying up to him, and Samantha remains a thorn in Jayne's side. The council tries to keep Jayne from joining Tony on a mission to talk the two remaining dragons into guarding the portals to the otherworlds, like in the good old days, before the fae f-ed everything up.

Finally!!! The action I have LOOONG awaited!!! So much excitement and drama it's addictive!! :D I love this book. Though it seems that between these first two Clash of the Otherworlds books, an awful lot is happening in an extremely limited time zone. Am i wrong or have they occurred within the space of a couple weeks, between them both? It just seems kind of weird; crammed.
No biggie though! :) still freaking fantastic!!! Can't wait for the Grand Finale!!!!
And finally!!! I mean freaking FINALLY!!! She kicked that loser Ben's arse to the curb!! I NEVER liked that little turd!! I tried so freaking hard to like his no good arse, really I did, but I didn't even come close. Ugh!!! I so hate that little turd!! I really do!! I seriously hope Jayne drowns his arse this time, for good.
Going to jump right into the next book. Fingers crossed it rocks!! And please. PLEASE!! Give Spike a freaking CHANCE!! <3 you Spike!!!

This book was as good as the last one, but honestly I'm starting to have trouble keeping track of who is on who's side (ahem - cough - Ben!). Totally surprised that he really is turning into the bad guy but at this point I'm still unsure if he's suddenly going to flip colours again. Anyway, this book definitely moved along a bit faster than after the fall and I think Jayne has finally started to knuckle down and get her act together. I'm tearing through this books so fast right now just to see what happens, I honestly can't remember where one ends and the next begins - all I know is I want to finish the story! Continuing on with the final book now, Portal Guardians.

Really not quite sure how to rate this!!!
Like I said... I felt I was back to this fun world, reading along waiting for it to kick in....checked where I was at and realised I was at 70%
The rest was a stroll along until 97% (yes!!) where the story opens up TO....wait for it.... the intro of the last book!!!
hmmph..
okay....
so yes I will read the last one! I've been waiting for so long for the series to START! I have a feeling that last one is going to be: 1/ too much to take in, in 1 final book.... or 2/ what the flipping heck, I've been waiting that long for that... kind-of-ending!??

double hmmph

So many twists

What is impressive about Casey's work is that there seem to be so many legitimate ways the story could go & it doesn't feel like they are cheats to keep the plot moving. For all the talk of Fate, Jayne doesn't seem to have an obvious destiny.

On the other hand, I was getting a bit frustrated that Jayne is willing to acknowledge that she makes poor choices, but is *so* stubborn about listening to others or taking the advice of those with more experience or a different perspective.

I'm not giving up though. I am disturbingly invested in these characters & very curious about how all these loose ends could possibly be sorted.

Yep things keep getting more interesting

And not to give out spoilers, but you'll love what happens at the end of this one...trust me it'll make you smile.

No tears still a lot of laughs....got to love snarky characters. By the time you get to book 6 of a series, what more is there to say, you made it this far because you....

Liked the story, check
Liked the characters, I've grown to love them and rejoice/cry cheer them on
Hated some characters, same ones same can I slap them silly?

I think it's the way everything interacts, fits together. This one answers more questions, but there's a ways to go to red each conclusions....

This one came out on my birthday! Boy was I excited! Although not my favotire present of the day (daughter gave me beautiful pictures and sentiments and flowers from my mom and flowers from my sister) it was definitely a thrill anyway. LOVED it! What was the best??? Spike of course! I love that the "gang" played a big part in this book. The man made family is absolutely amazing. I love every one of them. This book had lots of twists, turns, and loops. Loved it. Elle, you never disappoint. All of your books feel far too short. :)
