Well, the series comes to an end....or does it?

I am jumping for joy that Ms. Casey decided to pick this series back up and I can't wait to get to the next one.

I want to see what happens with Ben and if he decides to sing a different tune.

Shit, just give me all the characters back again plus add in a red dragon to complete the story.

This is a bitter sweet review for me, while I'm glad with how bad ass Portal Guardians ended.. I don't want to stop reading about Jayne, Spike, Tim, Tony, Jared, and all of the rest of the Fae in the Here and Now. I will miss demon wieners, spider nakies, Pixie butt dust, and sexy incubus smiles. I will never forget Jayne's mad hair cutting skill, nor how wonderful it feels to hug a tree! I have laughed, cried, and cried laughing during this series and the predecessor. I truly wish I could share this series with everyone, because it is very magical to me!

Cover Love and Writing
I really love the cover to this book, it is the best of the series! It is sexy, intriguing, and all that I could've imagined a dark fae in the Underworld would look like. The writing.. the best!!! I have always held Elle's writing at the top of my list. It is so funny and lighthearted at times, then serious and heartbreaking at others. I have never, ever, laughed as much as I have while reading.

Main Character
Jayne is the #1 most bad ass heroine I've ever read about. She takes no ones shit. She will stop at nothing to take care of her friends. You grow and learn right along with Jayne about the Fae world and what it's like to be an elemental.

Swoonworthy Points: 7
While there is a love interest, and some steamy kisses.. the focus is of course on saving the Here and Now (Earth). While my feelings for Jaynes love interest didn't go the way I wanted it to.. she ended up with the right person. The one I wanted her to be with all along.

I whole heartily recommend this series as well as the prequel series War of the Fae. Seriously.. go now and buy them!

To Elle:
Thank you for the books, thank you for the laughs, and thank you for the tears!

I will never tire of reading Elle Casey's books! Her writing style is one of a kind this series was amazing start to finish . Finish.. sigh... So sad to see it end . I have been so in touch with the characters . Cheering for them and laughing at some. Adventure, comedy, life lessons... All you could ever want in a book and so much more!

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**

I must say I was a bit skeptical about this series, but I am really enjoying it. This book makes me laugh every time I pick it up. I love that it has comedy mixed in with the action and fantasy. Its a nice touch. Yes Jayne has some very colorful language, but she does it in a comical way.

I thought I wouldnt be happy for her and Spike, but I have grown to accept their relationship. I will always want her to be with Chase, but I am glad that she is happy. I have to be honest in saying I thought that was the last person I thought she would end up with. I was rooting for her and Ben to work things out for a minute there, but, Im ok with this union. Oh well...on to the next book!!

SIDE NOTE: I sooooo need a pixie friend. Every single book I read that has a pixie in it is always freaking awesome. They are some brave and hilarious little tricksters. I FREAKING LOVE THEM!

I couldn't choose between 3 or 4 stars. I choose 4 because this has been an awesome series! But I am so not happy with the end!!! There was this big build up and then it was over! A few explanations but not nearly enough. Elle, I am a huge fan and I was impatiently waiting for this book but do not let our selfishness disrupt your writing. Next time take as much time as you need to write! But once again this will definitely be one of my all time favorite series (and yes I am already waiting for the epilogue) and I love Elle's writing and characters... I was just left feeling like I missed all the juicy details at the end and I really wanted those details!!!

Hmm the book skipped a lot of explanation near the end, like why Torrie's not to blame but Leck is... and who tf is Heryon? Very confused. I even read through the last bit again to see if I was missing anything.

Elle Casey's story telling is... WOW! I had soooooo much fun reading this series (that i finished it in 2days).
Oh the twist and turn of the story you wont know it until it hit you fast and hard... its like a whirlwind reading it.
I wanted to be sad that their story ends here (i hope not) but i cant be sad when i had so much fun. Thank you Ms. Casey for your wonderful books.

Spoiler alert!

So to summarize the series...
Ben is still a jerk and so full of it. I really thought that he and Jayne can work things out but of course no, i didnt happen.

Aidan the werewolf, a new member in Jayne's crazy group of friends, that made quarrel with Ben.

Willy the adorable son of Abby and Tim that adds to the craziness of Jayne's life by playing spider nakies. So much like Tim.

Tim the new member of the council and as always the source of all the laughing trip i had while reading this book (he and Jayne are the perfect roommate in the entire Green Forest). So long to the awesomely awesome Tim the pixieman!

Celine the soul stealer and Maggie the soul collector. Celine ended up with Torrie the demon love of her life that got back from Underworld (all thanks to your ever loving Jayne)

Shayla and Garrett Hawthorne were Ben's parents, well sort of..

Beau the newest Guardian to enter all this craziness.

Samantha and Jayne making things out they'd become friends and accepted being related all, and she ended up with Jared. :)

Tony ended up dating Felicia the succubus twin sister of Theresa who is by the way very jealous of her sister(sorry girl Tony is a one-girl-kinda-guy). The lucky bastard!

Finn and Becky wed at the end. I really thought it was Jayne and Spike getting married on that part but i think they will.

Lars the demon, Spike's fairy godfather. You'll know it when you read it.

Spike became Jayne's love of her life in the end. What can I say. Love is love. Thank the mother Spike didnt give a shit and love Jayne the way she is.

Who else did i miss? Well duh this book revolves around Jayne what can i say more???!!!
Jayne Blackthorne you rock girl!!!

FUUUUUUCCCKKKKK!!!!!

And now more questions that will never be answered!

WTF happened to Torrie??? Did they really forgave him for trying to rape Jayne and ending the world? Jayne said at the end that the thing that happened to her mother was Leck's fault. How??? Did he made Torrie do it? How? Did he possessed Torrie? Can you possess a demon? HOW THE FUCK DID LECK DO IT AND BLAMED ON TORRIE? If all that Torrie wished was to be free, why all the "I'll bed you and make a baby to rule the world" ? And he pretty much raped Shayla. Didn't he want to meet his diabolic son? At that part I felt like I was watching Star Wars for the very first time. "Luke, I am your father." Yeah, I know Darth Vader never said this phrase on the movie... But the feeling is the same. "Ben, your father is Torrie, the demon."

Pffff....

One thing good about this ending though, is that Spike FINALLY went with Jayne on a journey and fought at her sight. He was finally IN the story, and not just listening to Jayne tell them at dinner. This made feel a little better about them as couple. I now accept Spike as a mate for Jayne Sparks. ahahahah.. I don't know what took so long for the writer to start actually using Spike as a important character. He was always, since the beginning, less then secondary.
Another question unanswered is Spike's real name. I'm sure he's not really called Spike, is he? I don't really remember if that was discussed at the beginning.

Becky was my least favorite character. She's useless.... I don't know why they are all so jealous of her. And why they call her at the meetings? She never really helps with anything. She just sits there and only speaks to defend the enemy and give people the benefit of the doubt. They already have Tony for that. They don't really need Becky. Useless Water Sprite!

Love Tim! I want a whole series just about him!

I just finished the 7 book series, of Jayne and her new life as Fae. A great read, a page turner. I found myself on a few nights, getting bonked in the nose with my Kindle from staying up too late trying to read just a little bit more.

Sometimes I giggle, snicker, or chuckle with a book, but this series, there were many times, I laughed out loud and had to wait a few moments to recover before reading further.

For a Young Adult Book, it surprised me! I am impressed with the detail and depth of the story. I LOVE the dialogue, and "smartassy" banter back and forth with Jayne and the other characters!

This is a great fantasy series to introduce to (older) young adult readers, who are looking for a bit more substance to their reading. The main character is 17 yrs old.

No sex in this series, only a kiss here or there. It does have foul language that is sometimes a bit more colorful and creative than your standard "F's and S's", but only by one character.

The last of the series, Clash of the Otherworlds, just didn't have the punch that the first 3 did, for me at least. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't one that I couldn't put down as those first 3 had been. I was happy to see the conclusion so that I wouldn't wonder what happened to Janyne, Spike, Ben and the others.
I still think Elle Casey is an AMAZING author, and am one of her biggest fans. I am now reading one of her other series and am again totally enthralled, so I have to tell you that as an author Elle's imagination is extraordinary and such a joy to read.
So, if you've read the others in the series, you've just GOT TO read this one because it wraps up everyone's destiny, and gives you a glimpse into what their lives are going to be like after you've closed the book on their journey, and gotten back to the life that you put on hold just so you could read these books.

This book was much more memorable than the one before it, but not amazing.

SPOILERS: Highlights included closure with Chase the angel, Ben getting hitched to a dragon in heaven, Jayne realizing Spike's the man for her and that she can be with him, Jayne saving the day in both heaven and hell, Jayne hooking up with the dragon in hell (not in a nasty way - get your mind out of the gutter!), Samantha turning out to be a good guy, how the whole crazy problem started in the first place, and a wedding.

I absolutely HATED the last chapter. It was a conversation between Spike and Jayne where they talked to each other about what happened to everyone after the big magic finale in hell. That chapter was so contrived, I wanted to barf. The epilogue (wedding) was ok.

Willy, Willy. That was a bit of a surprise. Tim's family rocks!
Loved the whole Clash of the Otherworlds series (and the War of the Fae, too)! Portal Guardians was fantastic, once again! About 90% of the way in, I wondered how Elle Casey would tie a bow around it... Part of me thought "too many loose ends. She can't do it." Another side of my brain said "I hope she doesn't, because then she'll have to add another installment!"
To her credit, she wrapped it up, nicely! On the other hand.... much to my dismay.... I Love this series and don't want it to end!
Well, at least I have the Epilogue to look forward to....

This was bittersweet. I loved this entire series and I am a HUGE fan of Elle Casey. I was so glad that Jayne ended up with the guy I always wanted her to be with! I do feel like it ended sort of suddenly and there could have been more details. I am chomping at the bits to get a hold of the epilogue! I will certainly miss visiting with Jayne, Spike, Tim, Tony, Chase and the rest of the gang. I will certainly miss the humor, pixie farts and spider nakies! This series was such a joy to read!

It's over!!!! well.... I thought it was over, but then the last page says there are 3 more to the series! lol

However!!! how much more of Jayne swearing, Tim farting, Spike loving, Chase not talking, Finn speaking, Becky disappearing, Sam scowling and, and Meetings.... Can I Take??????
MWAHAHAH!!!!

Nice last installment of these 7 books however. The very end was a bit rushed, these actions could have been spread between this book and the one before (which was lacking of..) but it has been a fun adventure
I liked that Jayne actually acts her age ;-)

This book was a very good development to the overall plot of the series. The character development is very nice since most of the characters end up how you wanted them to be in the first book. Like Jayne being with Spike, for example.

Reviews relating to this book: After the Fall - Clash of the Otherworlds Book 1

War of the Fae Series

Synopsis

-Final installment of both series

Jayne and her group of misfit Fae friends must travel to the Overworld and the Underworld to recruit the Guardians. Too bad the Guardians are monster dragons with a bad attitude and a mouthful of fire breath. Jayne, along with Spike- her almost boyfriend incubus, Tony- best friend and Gray walker, Finn- redneck Green Elf, Samantha- badass witch with a worse attitude, Ben- powerful Elemental who is probably a traitor, and Jared- the daemon that started it all; the group must overcome the odds and restore the portals. The demons cannot be stopped any other way. Can they reach the Guardians in time, and convince them to help before the Earth is overrun with demons?

My Thoughts

I had no idea how Elle Casey was going to tie up all the loose ends without writing another book. 75% of the way through, it seemed there was no way to finish it without leaving a million questions. She pulled it off fairly well, and my head is still spinning with the ending. Most of the events were rather predictable, but there were a few twists and turns that left me smiling like a fool. It is a bittersweet ending, and I hope that Casey will write another book in this series someday. I found myself falling in love with a lot of the characters, Tim especially. The snarky pixie captured my heart, as did foul mouthed protagonist, Jayne. I can't give away all of the secrets of the series, but I will say that my prior predictions were, in fact, entirely correct. I enjoyed the conclusion, and I have mixed feelings about the ending. But all in all, it was a wonderful continuation of the War of the Fae Series, and I would recommend it to any urban fantasy fan.

Excerpt from Book

When the angel was just over the field, I could see that she was a girl, or more accurately, a woman. And she was wearing the skimpiest outfit I'd yet to see in the fae, or angel world. She had leather pants that were mostly just straps, and some straps that went around her chest. But they conveniently missed her boobs. I looked over at Finn, and sure enough, his tongue was practically hanging out. We were about to be attacked by Dark Angel S&M Barbie, and I was pretty sure he didn't mind one bit."-Jayne via Elle Casey

This is my favorite book of the clash of the otherworlds....I loved war of the fae series and clash of the otherworlds, BUT Jayne Blackthorne finally puts all the pieces together in this one and kicks some serious ass. LOL

I feel like I have been on a roller coaster for the last 6 books and we finally came flying down the last hill back to the station! Yippeee! (hands in the air) what a ride! Thank you, Elle has been pumping out these books so fast...(no time to lose your adrenaline rush from the previous book) But now that I have caught my breathe...I may have to re-read the whole series because now I have no new Jayne calamities to look forward to.

Every book makes me laugh and root for my gal, Jayne and her pals (especially the pixie family living with her), but this one gave me the last piece that I have been missing (just a little)a great love finish. I've said before that I hate love triangles, and Elle not only had a love triangle but dipped into about 3 or 4 possible love interests for Jayne. I was rooting for one, switched half way through to a different one and changed again by the end to a different one (I didn't even get mad about it!). I usually pick out the one I want her with in the beginning and it makes me mad if it changes, but Jayne's changes were understandable and she grew so much that it was actually nice that she didn't fall in love with the love of her life so quickly. If you read the series from the war of the fae through this one...she actually was attracted to this one from the beginning.

Thank you Elle...you make your crew come off the pages and I know that (me the reader) believe all your characters are my own crew. I will truly miss reading about Jayne's misadventures trying to be the Mother of all fae and roommate to Tim the great...Abby the enforcer and of course baby bee Willy(spider nakie away)....and of course the seriously sexy incubus Spike.

This was an exceptional book! Clash of the Otherworlds along with it's predecessor series War of the Fae are now my favorite fantasy series. This book was just so good! All of my questions were answered and all of my favorite characters ended exactly where they should and with who they should. One thing I don't like sometimes in a book, especially a series is when they end it right after the final battle and the good guys walk into the sunset or something. I like to know how everyone is doing after the big final confrontation is over and I was so happy that this book did that. There were several chapters left to go after the final fight and we get to see how everyone's doing, where they're at, who they end up with, etc. and it was just a perfect ending. Jayne ended up with the person I was hoping she would end up with :) This book along with the whole series was just so much fun to read. I don't think I've ever laughed so much reading before, especially when Jayne and Tim are doing something. Their dialogue just cracks me up.

I ended up reading this one in just one day. I notice a lot of people in the reviews section saying the same thing. It's really really hard to put these books down. I would be happy reading another 20 books about Jayne and all her fae friends but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. If Elle Casey ever decides to revisit this world I'll definitely do a happy dance but if not then that's cool too, I'm sure she has other wonderful worlds just waiting to be created. There's just something very magical about her writing and I cannot wait to read more from her. War of the Fae along with Clash of the Otherworlds are two series that I will be reading again and again someday in the future.

Jayne and her fae friends will be missed! This was an epic ending to two wonderful series'. This book had a lot of loose ends to tie up, and I wasn't sure if Elle could do it in one book, but the master has accomplished the impossible... wonderfully done!

Thinking back to the very beginning of the War of the Fae series, I've realized Jayne has come a long way. She's always been awesome, but now she has grown into an awesome leader with an even bigger heart. Despite all of her colorful language (which I loved about her), she is a great role model. I love that she always wanted to do the right thing for everyone when she could have easily taken the opposite route.

I was happy to see who she ended up with in the end... it's who I liked from the very beginning! (Yay me, for getting my way!) I don't like spoilers, so I won't say who it is. In this book, she became quite mature. She was able to put her personal feelings aside and really look at a situation, which in the end, was a real blessing. Jayne truly had a ton of people that finally "got" her. I was relieved to see that she had so many friends and family that loved her.

The very end of the book ended in a very nice way. I was so used to cliff hangers with these two series', and it was refreshing to be stunned by an ending that wasn't leaving me wondering what was next! I am looking forward to the epilogue because, well... I've come to feel like these characters have become family to me, and I'll never be able to totally let them go!

Great book. It finally finished off the story and answered the nagging questions that had been hanging around the last several books. The writing was good, the characters awesome (especially Jayne), and of course the story was hilarious, happy, and sad all at the same time. Glad everything worked out in the end though; and I'm glad I finally realized how much this series really is about grey areas and grey characters. I was glad so many of them seemed to have found their way by the end though. Normally I'm all for clear-cut good guys versus bad guys, but this time I did find myself pleasantly surprised. My only nagging question after finishing the book was what on earth happened to Maggie? Anyway, good series for a laugh - especially all the bodily functions humour and ridiculous things Jayne ends up doing in fights (orc castration, need I say more?). Glad I read it and sure I'll come back a re-read it at some point down the line when I need a bit of swearing and B.O. related humour to brighten my day.

Book 7 picks up immediately from 6 - every book ends in a cliffhanger except this one. Once more Jayne is denied and Jayne does as Jayne will. She can't understand why some people may not like that because her character hasn't grown! She's still the bossy, immature 17 year old acting as if she is 12. I was really disappointed when Becky tricked her so well, I was hoping she was telling the truth. I'm not surprised by any of the "twists" anymore, I just want the fae world safe. There is some definite creepy things happening in Maggie's house, and I find myself once more wanting to know more about Samantha and what she is capable of doing. She's already shown more character development than Jayne, but that's only because she bowed down to the will of a nasty teenager. The ending happens with exactly how you would guess it does. It's tied up nicely with a bow. I am overall satisfied with what happened and the conclusion, but there is another book. Once more there is poor editing and that pesky semicolon.

I was disappointed by this final book and kinda feel I should rate it lower than four stars but I just can't bring myself to. I adored this series (and the war of the fae quartet preceding it): Elle Casey's characters are fantastic and the touch of humor worked very well. Those two winning factors are not lost in this final installment. BUT. Loose ends were left, a large proportion of the back story explanations didn't make sense to me and the epilogue was a pitiful wrap-up. It felt rushed and there were numerous careless errors as a result. When the former books were so tight, marking careful attention to detail, the mistakes and loose structure here stood out stark. Shame. I really wish a little more time had been taken to really conclude the Changelings tale with the finesse and style they so deserved.

Oh, and if anyone discovers where I can get me a pixie roommate with a fanny pack, please let me know. I SOOO want an awesome Tim the pixieman of my own!

a perfect end to a perfect series. man I'm really sad it's over. I seriously think this story is one that I would never get tired of reading. their world, adventures, relationships, friendships, all of it is what made this series hands down probably one of my favorite reads. I'm sincerely going to miss Jayne and Elle Casey couldn't have written a better heroine. Such a strong, bad ass character who is fiercely loyal, protective, sometimes self doubting, absolutely hilarious and probably one of the most genuine characters I've read in awhile. I'm felling pretty bittersweet about all of this right now though, I'm really glad that it ended in happiness but I'm feeling slightly depressed that it's all over :( Elle Casey you are now officially one of my favorite authors and I just wanted to say thanks for this unforgettable read :)
