My name's Bryn Mathis. I'm seventeen years old, and I'm alive at a critical time in our world's history, unlike all the adults and babies who didn't survive the virus that almost wiped out the human race. Alliances are building, enemies are gathering, and everything's about to reach the boiling point. I'm in a race against time to get Haven ready for the final showdown, a confrontation that could very possibly destroy everything my friends and I have worked so hard to create. People I trusted have betrayed me. People who I thought were my enemies are not. Nothing is as it seems, and nothing will ever be the same for me, now that I've embarked on this one last adventure that could be the undoing of everything that is me.

**4 OH NOOOO Stars**

So, here is the ending of the series and I'm so disappointed --- not that the story was bad but it's what happened with my favorite character. But you have to understand, this is my own personal problem with the story because I had a soft spot for a certain someone in my heart.

How do you ruin an original and well-plotted post-apocalyptic series faster than you can say 'nut crusher'? Turn the the most bad-ass teen heroine into a dull juvenile with 'boy problems', while also neutering her jovial and loyal mate.

One of the most appealing aspects of this series has been the lead's cast-iron resolution to do the right thing by kicking ass, and taking names later. So many stories, in media of all formats, often let their characters make what is clearly the wrong decision, just to lead them into peril and stir up some trouble. Bryn Mathis had been the antithesis of this, until 'Haven'. Where she was once 'win-at-all-costs', she now spends her time fretting about which boy she should be with. Despite the impending war with the canners, Elle Casey subjects us to an endless analysis of Bryn's thoughts and feelings, and dares to magnify Bodo's betrayal so that it becomes the chief motivation of the narrative, with hardly a care given to the murderous and psychotic cannibals. In fact, when coupled with the prominence of the Amazons, you could be forgiven for thinking that this while series was just an outlet for Casey's feminist agenda. She does not even bother to introduce us to a new 'Loco', instead taking aim at the fun-loving German and making him the villain.

There are still elements to enjoy; the promise and development of Haven resembles that of the community in Justin Cronin's 'The Passage', the EWS (early warning system) is a novel thought, and the supporting characters remain fun and are not treated to such heavy handed changes to their personality traits (Coli excluded). But given this series was built on a 'tough-as-nails' chick who can take down her foes with her bare hands, this meek conclusion was never able to offer an ending the readers deserved.

*What an amateur oversight to change the name of a character between books. It seems the warrior princess Kiersten, now likes to be know as Kirsten. Or perhaps that was just in my copy.

Well I'm not happy! Not at all *sobs into pillow*
It's over.. It can't be over, I need more so much more!
I can't even think about starting another book yet, I need to mourn the loss of there being no more books in this series.. Why is there no more books in this series?? Elle Casey you need to know I'm not a happy camper, 4 books is no where near enough for this series! It should be atleast a 8 book series, I need all the stuff between the last chapter and epilogue!! I need way way more of Bryn and Paci and Peter and Trip, and what.. Fohi and Jenny? I feel cheated!

Sooo incase you didn't notice I love, love loved this series and if ever there was a book series that should be made into movies this is for sure it.. Why has this not been made into movies?! Having said that it would prob miss loads of stuff out and piss me off so prob a good idea it's not.

I'm writing this after my second read of this series (coz I was lazy and didn't really bother writing reviews when I first read this, but I'm making an effort to change that this year)
Anyway when I first read these books I literally ate them up, couldn't put them down, and I guess I thought the second time around I'd read them more leisurely.. That was not the case at all, it was just like the first time, I couldn't put them down and didn't want them to end, so if you like these types of stories I would strongly suggest you check this series out, it's soo sooo good!

WOW I can't believe the journey has ended.
Ms. Casey you don't mess around when you kill off people. You have no heart. At least you left some of them live. But I am so heartbroken over the ones that didn't make it.
I was so invested in these characters. You have no idea how much you made me care about them. And I freaking know that this is just a book, ok. I know. But I can't get past it.
I would have loved more than that so succinct epilogue. I wanted to know more about everyone, not just such a small fraction of Bryn's life.
DAMMIT I want another book.
Yes I don't feel that this world you have created has told all its tales.
I just have so much more I would like to know about them.
What about Bodo, the Amazons, Jackson, Sissy and her brother.
There are so many things I wish to read about.
I hope you will reconsider and do a spin-off or something of this series. It's too precious to just let it be forgotten.
Please, please, please write some more.
I love your books so much. So much. You have no idea.

Ok, I need to get some things off my chest because I can't stop fuming over this book.

I will say first that, overall this series is pretty good. It's pretty well written, fast paced for the most part and interesting

But, I did not like how the second half of this series played out. Did NOT like how the author threw a love triangle and relationship drama at us. Seriously, does ANYBODY like that crap in stories?? Spoiler alert... didn't like how things went with Bodo. Lovable character just completely destroyed by the author...as far as I'm concerned he did not cheat on Bryn. He had naked women all over him, feeling him up, etc and didnt do anything. Even though Bryn was always kinda a jerk to him anyway. Idk, I'm just frustrated with how weird things played out...

Sigh...I guess I feel a bit better now.

Haven is the fourth and final (insert sad face) book in the Apocalypsis series. I love that Elle's books start right where the previous book leaves off. So Haven picks up right where Exodus left off. We continue to follow Bryn and her rag tag new "family" as they strive to set up their new home, Haven. As well as the adventure of Bryn and a handfull of others who venture back to the swamp to try to get supplies, animals, and more of the Meeks and Creeks to bring back to Haven, all while trying to keep away from Canners. Then there's also the matter of the Bryn, Bodo, Paci situation that has to be dealt with. This story is full of struggles, heartbreak, betrayal, love, and the constant suport of friends/family who come together to survive this new world and rebuild.

-SPOILER ALERT-
I'm always sad to see a series I really like end (especially Elle's)and this one is no exception. It's like saying goodbye to friends and leaves me wanting to know more about what happens to them. With this one it was nice that Elle did an epiloge at the end that jumped forward 5 yrs to give us a peek into what happens to our favorite characters in the future but that's just it, it's just a very quick/simple peek without much detail. Tere are some characters I wish she would have included and let us know what happened to them, especially Bodo. Bodo was such a big part of the previous books and it felt like all of a sudden he was completely different and then he decides to leave Haven and we never really hear what becomes of him. It also would have been nice to find out what happened with Ronald, Jamal, Derek, & Flick since they played bigger roles through the book. As well as LaShay and Mandy. Was Coli ever able to be "saved" or did she just stay crazy in the swamp all alone? I was also disappointed to not hear more about Peter and Trip's relationship and how they overcame their differences. And how Bryn and Paci's relationship developed. Despite all that I still really liked this series and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Haven, the last and final (insert sobs) installment of Elle Casey’s Apocalypsis series did not disappoint. I almost didn’t want to read it because I did not want to say goodbye to my friends. I have loved this series from start to finish.

Haven starts off exactly where it ended. Bryn and her followers had just settled into the prison that they called home and which they named Haven. Hordes of new kids have come to join them, swearing their loyalty to Bryn and Haven at the door. The newcomers and the old characters have to get their new home into shape and figure out how to live in a strange, cruel world. Haven is to be exactly that, a Haven from the cruelty of the canners (kids that eat other kids), where they can start over again. Together, Bryn and Peter, along with the others must do whatever is possible to start a new life. Regardless of the end of the world feel, teenagers will be teenagers and love and hormones still take root. Bryn is still with Bodo, whom she feels that she must be truthful with. Paci is also back on the scene. When Bryn comes clean with Bodo, all kinds of romantic hell breaks loose and decisions must be made.

When the canners invade the swamp, Bryn and a few of her crew step in to help. This book has heartbreak, betrayal, love, struggle, and most importantly, the constant support of friends and teenagers that must grow up while fighting to make their place in the world. I was constantly amazed at the solutions they came up with and the steady determination they had to survive and start over. There are many unexpected happenings, as well as many sad, tear-filled moments. The ending actually did it for me. I felt like I could close the book and feel good about it. Full of new and old characters, people you love and people you love to hate, Haven is a must-read end to a brilliant series.

How did I forget to review Haven after I finished reading it?! I must be stuck in a mourning period after I finished because I've already read this series more than once! And with having a ton of TBR books on my kindle.(and believe me there are alot) When I find myself rereading this series more than just one time, I think it shows just how GREAT this series is!!!!!

How I survived with Haven being the last book in the Apocalypsis series (insert crying) I may never know...

Ok- yes I know this was the 4th book and it has to end sometime BUT I must say that even at 75% of the book I thought - "How is she going to end this whole thing yet within another 25%?" There was so much going on.....so much that could have been written yet. I feel that with all that the reader has been through with this group in these 4 books - it ended abruptly for me. I mean, there are so many questions I have - What happened to Bodo?, What happened with the rest of the canners in the world?, Did they still get attacked or bothered over the years after that one fight with them?, was it safer at all? Did any of the country start to re-build since the kids were getting older and could do more? I know, I know....it had to end somewhere. On one note, I'm glad she ended up with Paci. I didn't really ever like Bodo as much as I should have. Paci all the way!

I don't want to spoil anything so it's hard to tell how good this final book of the serie is and how excited I was to finally get to read it.
What can I tell you without giving anything away?
First you need a supply of tissue papers because you're going to drop some tears.
Then you need someone close by to remind you to breathe because you'll get caught up and may forget about that.
Oh, and last, you need to brace yourselves for suprises.
Ok that's it, I've taken enough of your time, go read the book!

Best Book Of The Series!
I am always sad to see Elle's series come to an end. Her chillaxed writing style brings and amazingly personal depth to her character's. Haven is no exception. This book will have you angry, then laughing, then crying, and when its over leave wanting more! I gave Haven the full 5 stars it deserves! Elle you never disappoint! Thank You!!

I'd like to note first of all that this series destroyed and dominated my life for a full week. I did not sleep, I did not work, I did nothing other than read these series because I couldn't THINK about anything else!

I love this series. I did have some minor issues with the amount of language in it, but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't a huge deal. Bryn is like the only moral compass left in the world. She's so moral that her character is almost unbelievable, but her relationship issues and anger issues bring her back down to believable levels.

I adore Bryn and Peter together. They are hilarious, seriously. I love their friendship!

The last note I want to make is about Bryn and Bodo...

I do feel like there were some plot holes, and I expected things to go a different route. Everything overall felt a little unfinished, but I think that's because I want perfection... and it probably would take years to achieve....

Overall though, this series is definitely in my top 10, and I think it's worth the read.

Let me start off with saying I absolutely loved this series! The writing was so well done and kept me turning the page until the very end. Scenes had my heart racing, crying, laughing, and even a little heart swooning. I love how Elle has the book showing what might actually happen in an apocalypse and that being human becoming the animals that we are. For a YA novel she doesn't shy away from the hard facts of life.

HOWEVER...about halfway through Exodus and most Haven I was a bit disappointed. SPOILER ALERT!!! Side characters that I came to care about just kind of fell off. Coli seemed like she may be a kind of decent person in the first 2 books with maybe a hormonal jealousy problem and then was left to be totally bipolar. not to mention we never know what happened with her. Lashay is the same story. What happened with her?? And the ranch?? Did they ever get the EWS system? I wasn't personally feeling Paci from the very beginning with his creepy watchful eye of Bryn. I what as THOROUGHLY disappointed with Bodo's story. I loved their little tripod the second Bodo came along. I really hated how the author threw his story away. It would have seemed more of a lesson and a test of their love to have them work through the lies and the "cheating." I just wish the story could have slowed down and given us more in depth on the lovable characters in the book and even taken a closer look at the ones who seemed like they had amazing back stories *ahem* Triple Bar Ranch kids/Trip and Peter/mysterious Bodo/Jimmy and Sissy/ amazon sisters....I could go on and on. I hope someone writes a fan fiction ending with Bodo and Bryn coming out on top.

A YA series set against a post-apocalyptic America where only teenagers survived a mysterious outbreak. This series of four books follow the life of Bryn, a teenager equipped with survival skills and martial arts mojo, as she navigated dangerous territories with a shaved poodle and Peter, her gay neighbour. Survival of the fittest and smartest is the keyword here as they searched for food and a safe haven amidst blatant cannibalism and slavery. But also captured within is the importance of humanity and basic core values like honesty, trust and selflessness, and because of that, I found more layers, intensity and realism within the pages.

There is action, violence and horror, which are frighteningly graphic at times, but this is balanced out by light-hearted moments in the form of Bodo as well as the witty repartees between Bryn and Peter. There are a few issues with believability, but unless one has truly experienced an apocalypse, it is honestly difficult to know what works and what doesn’t, so I’m cutting the author some slack. In fact, I was surprised to find that this series has attracted several adult readers who have penned good reviews of the four books.

“Apocalypsis” is a series with solid writing where the author not only tells a good story, but makes the reader experience the story too. So even with some predictability in the plot, one will find the reading journey itself enjoyable and addictive. I highly recommend the experience (for16-year-olds and above).

I laughed, I cried and I devoured the final book of this series.

You can see how many choices and decision made in the past return to reveal the consequences in this book. Bryn has a big target on her head because she continues to try and make the right and humane decisions. The canners network has grown, the Native American settlement in the swamp has been breached and Haven is still in the process of being converted from a prison to a sanctuary.

I don't want to give away spoilers but if you have read the first three in this series it is a MUST to finish it with this book. If you haven't read the first three--what is stopping you?? You will watch a martial arts savvy girl with little social skills emerge as a great leader with compassion.

Bryn is young woman who struggles with strong moral convictions in a world that has blurred the lines between wrong and right.

Teenagers are supposed to be worrying about what college they are going to attend, if the boy they like, likes them back not how to set up a civilization with no adults and very little training surrounded by the worst of human nature surfacing and taking hold.

I truly fitting end to the series and I say Thank you Elle for a great read and matching up the more mature better choice for Bryn. :)

Haven, a place of safety and refuge, a sanctuary where the teenage survivors of the Apocalypse could rebuild their lives and live in safety with people they trusted: a place where they could start over.

What a great ending to a really remarkable story. I have been hooked on this series from page one of Kahayatle. I have agonised over the trials and heartache of the teens as they fought to survive in a world where nothing is the same, and where every decision made could mean the difference between life, or death.

When they finally reached Haven I sighed in relief – they were finally safe.

The young survivors had a lot of work ahead of them to build a place which could sustain them all, as well as other survivors who would join them in the future, and they got right down to it. But, as is usual, there is always someone who either wants what they have, or wants to destroy what they are trying so hard to build.

In this final book, Elle Casey delivered an ending that had me in tears, some tears of sadness but tears of happiness too.

The survivors will be just fine ........... they are morally strong, hard working, and honest, but most importantly they are a community, a family – they will change the world.

I'm thrilled with this end!!!!
I don't remember ever being this happy with a end! It's the first time the guy I was rooting for actually end up with the girl!!!!!!
I'm very, very happy! Unfortunately we lost two of my favorites characters, but I think it was necessary... Every story needs a martyr... I think Coli was the biggest twist for me... I really had mixed feelings about her and really didn't know what to make of her... I really liked how or who she ended up being...
I don't think there's anything I would change about this ending... Really.. I'm feeling very satisfied, which is a rare thing when you end a series you love... You always end feeling like you want more, but this didn't happened here. I think the story ran it's course... And it ended as it should..

I am very disappointed with the way Bryn & Bodo's relationship was played out and I am aware that it is the author's prerogative but I am very annoyed with how Bodo's actions have been perceived as cheating. Under the circumstances I feel that Bodo's actions were not of a boy cheating but a boy being kept captive, exposed to nudity and then a woman seeking to become his confident for her own benefits, a totally different situation to Bryn who is already falling in love with Paci before Bodo went missing and she still comes out smelling of roses, not on. Anyway, rant over, the rest of the story is interesting and keeps you on your toes. Overall I enjoyed the series.

This book has so much more than I ever hoped after the end of the last one. I thought we were done with Bryn in Kahayatle, but I love that this one makes her remember those she had to leave behind.

The best thing about this book is how true it stays to the characters. Bryn had hard choices, but I am thrilled she made them.

The ending for a series that I have enjoyed reading. For the most part. Like every book in this series it had it's high points and then it's low points. To start things off a big problem I had with this book was how the death of kowi and winky were written. Starting with Kowi, being a big pretty main character in the previous books and his death is just finding him in a canoe and pushing it down the river. Really, that's the best you could do. And then winky a strong character sense she was introduced and we don't learn of her death and how it happened until all the fighting, that caught me off guard. A flashback recap of people sneaking in that's lame. What things I did commend the book for is the addition of the two brothers. While not being in the story for more than a book they left a great lasting impact, some of the finest written characters in the whole series. Let down for the big battle at the very end with it trying to villianize Gail when she was a nothing character seemly just thrown in for the hell of it. I did enjoy the ranch scene and the idea of everyone teaming up and helping I really like that. But the way that Bodo was kind of written off and we never hear how he is other than setting up in the keys. He was such a huge character and they just let him walk off and get a note for all of he did the series wow. I really did appreciate the epilogue of Bryn, Peter, Trip, Paci having a family meal going back to where the series started off. Giving the whole circle thing a nice feel of seeing everything connect together. I might have teared into this series a lot and don't get me wrong there are many problems with it, but this was an amazing thing to read of a post apactoliptic world that they are trying to rebuild, and a realistic one at that. Seriously a very under rated book and series that people should check out.

Really good series! This book had a lot of typos in it though, which I didn't really notice in the others.
I like when authors bring details from the other books back into the story as a helpful reminder but don't make a big deal about it. A few sentences are good, and thats how Casey handled it, no long paragraphs reiterating past books. I do wish there was a clear timeline for everything. I could have sworn in the first book Bryn said her father had been gone only 4 or 6 months, and then within another 1-2 months she was meeting the Amazon women and the canner who had been around long enough to establish themselves and go through full pregnancies and have months old children. And At another point in the 3rd book I think she mentioned it had been several days in the swamp and the next chapter she said it had been a week referring to the same time frame... several days could be a week, but it seems like it should have been longer. Everything from the Swamp to the Prison happened in maybe 5 weeks time, if that? And in this book, book 4 she said her shirt hadn't been white in almost a year, so that implies about a year has passed since she has gotten to truly wash everything. OK, enough complaining about the timeline. Still enjoyed the books very much!

Edge of Your Seat Read!

Holy crapballs, this series is an emotional rollercoaster! It has survival and self-preservation, fight or flight, the making and struggles of friendships and relationships, fear, anticipation, successes, adrenaline rushes, hardships, gains, losses, action (seriously, my palms were sweating, lol), creativity, strengths, vulnerabilities, ingenuity, characters of all personalities and backgrounds learning and facing challenges beyond their wildest imaginations. All of these scenarios wrapped in love, hate, gratefulness, disgust, humanity, humbleness, remembering to value what and WHO you are and have, sadness, adaptation, desperation, pride and so much more. In addition, there's humor expertly laced throughout each book.

Elle Casey brings heart a soul to each and every one of her characters and books, in all genres, which this series certainly provides. As an author, she evokes endless thought and emotion while entertaining. She makes you think, feel and learn something about yourself through the characters and the situations they face.

If you read the first book, you may as well buy the full series, you'll read them all on the edge of your seat!

2.5 stars. First, I have to give props to the author for creating characters I feel passionate enough about to be this upset by the ending. Second, this review will be extremely biased because I LUFFED Bodo and hate how things ended for his character (so, most of my bad feelings about the ending revolve around his storyline...it almost ruined the entire series for me).
That said, after Bodo and Bryn were separated, what kept me invested in the story was the belief/hope that they would be able to work it out in the end. Had I known that things would stay bad between them, I might have stopped reading after he was captured. It also really bothered me that Bodo's character did such a 180...I always thought of him as one of the more grounded, or at least fair, characters, so it was disheartening to see him be equal parts sullen and an asshole (even though I can understand why he was upset, to an extent). I missed his good nature and kindness.
Bryn and Paci ending up together was a surprise to me, also, since it didn't seem like her feelings for him ran very deep.

Brilliant

This was a perfect end to the series even though I am sad that it has indeed ended.
It was filled with suspense all the way through and although some people seem mad about the bodo situation I honestly think Bryn made the right call and always preferred paci. Besides what bodo did and how he made her feel was not right after everything they had been through. Seeing as he told the queen bee of the Amazon about Nina when Bryn had to discover it for herself. All in all this was fantastic the only but that really made me sad were adult kowi and winky. Will definitely read this series again.

I want more

Although I really want there to be more, I think that Casey did a great job ending this series. There was conflict, heartbreak, joy, sadness, and so many more emotions passing through me as I finished the series.
Like I said before, I really don't want the story to be over, because it is one of the best, if not the best series I've read in the past year, and I would like to know more about Bryn and company as well as the rest of the separate colonies even after the epilogue.
Great book by a great author!

I really enjoyed this series, but am so disappointing in the ending!!! Team Bodo! I found it frustrating that Bryn gets mad at Bodo for being assaulted while imprisoned - so much victim blaming! In my head Bodo goes to Key West, sets up some contacts, comes back to Haven and they all live happily. I also would have been ok with the love triangle if Winky and Bodo ended up together...but that didn't happen either. I was really looking forward to an epilogue with Bodo taking care of his farm and birds :(

This is the final book in the young adult book series Apocalypsis by Elle Casey. These books are very well written with excellent use of language and sound character development. The story line builds to a climax in this final book, Haven, where the wanderers across the apocalyptic landscape finally find a home and see the influx of arrivals grow. There are constant thrills in the book and the ending is bittersweet but not tragic. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys post apocalyptic thrillers.

I think the author ran out of steam. This is a four book series that should have been two.

I lost count of all the stupid things Bryn and company did that I knew would come back and bite them later. I was bored with the lame love triangle.

The ending was a letdown after building up to what I thought would be a major battle.

The epilogue was baffling. Five years later, how are all these former teens still alive? Shouldn’t they have died like the adults before them? Did the virus just disappear?

Last book in a series that I loved.
Honestly though, I wasn't a fan of this book. It just finished and then had a 5 years later part.
I wanted to see how Bryn and Paci's relationship bloomed and maybe even a steamy section like she had with Bodo. But nope, just 5 years later and they have a baby!?!?!
Didn't sit well with me at all.
Maybe another few books in the series focusing on Paci and the others in the Everglades would be a good idea.

I really love the series but I think I would've loved this book a whole lot more if she didn't do what she did in the story which was really disappointing to me not because it wasn't a good story but it was such a twist. So I've decided to only give it a four star rating but the series as a whole was amazing.
