After fighting in The Holy Land on a crusade, Warin de Taillur, troubled by the bloodshed, intends to dedicate his life to The Lord at Mont St.Michel. However, he rescues Alayne, a waif, whose father and brothers are dead, and whose aunt has stolen her property in England. Warin thinks Alayne is a boy called Alan. When Warin realises she is a young girl he becomes her knight errant.

I enjoyed the historical detail, the value of peppercorns, which could be exchanged for goods, the description of a make-shift market at a tourney in which Warin takes part, and much more.

I also enjoyed getting to know Warin and Alayne, who are mediaeval people, not 21st century characters dressed in costume.

Poetry has a place in prose. Amongst others, I particularly enjoyed A.M. Westerling's phrase: "the sun's rays slanted before them like honeyed arrows."

If you enjoy heart-warming, well written historical romance, mystery and suspense, you will enjoy A Knight for Love

Alyna Caperun was alone, and saddened when her brother David died from a disease upon going to the Holy Land to be with their father in the Crusade. She's battling from hunger, and so far away from home, due to her Aunt Philippa's treachery. She's thinking of giving up, while the rain pounding on her head beside the road, and contemplating what to do with her life.

Warin de Taillur was tired in the Holy Land, and decided to lay down his sword to serve the monastery of Mont St. Michel. Upon going home with his horse Citadel in the mucky road in a heavy rain, suddenly encountered Alyna asking for help, and misunderstood her for a lad.

The story was so engrossing, and can't hardly put down my Kindle. The romance, emotions, and marvelous characters seduces me.

I really liked this book and especially the hero. He was strong, compassionate and loyal. He battled internal emotions Although I've read many books with similar story lines, the author was able to keep the story interesting with suspense, excitement and a decent romance between the two main characters. I'll be looking for more from this author.
